Amid Elemis aims to become fully recyclable by 2025 the changes are coming in thick and fast.
They achieved B Corp status in 2023 and are en route to becoming the most sustainable premium British skincare brand.
In relation to packaging, product leaflets, plastic spatulas and bubble wrap were removed from products in 2021. Now the usual plastic jars for creams and balms will be replaced by glass, as it has been already with the Pro-Collagen Rose Marine Cream 50ml.
One of the most recent things I have noticed, is the reduction in size of the boxes for the Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. The product inside is still the same 100g size we know and love, but the box is more like the 50ml Marine Cream box.
You might get a little shock when you receive your first order after the change (like I did), but you'll be relived to see your usual 100g Cleansing Balm Sitting inside. You might be shocked however, at the lack of the usual cloth. Panic not, this is now how they will come going forward. There is, a little space under the box lid where you would think a new cloth could sit, but I had a brand new one (still wrapped in the tissue paper) in my stash and it does not fit.
Also, if you look on the base of your cleansing balms, the type of plastic used to form the pots has been updated. They are now made from more widely recycled plastics, which is great news for Elemis and all of its customers. We can can rest assured that our favourite brand is doing everything possible to ensure we are choosing a brand comitted to a sustainable future.
